Joaquín J. Torres graduated in physics in 1992 and received his Ph.D. in Physics in 1997, both at U. of Granada. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Inst. Nonlinear Sci. (UCSD) (now within the Biocircuits Inst.) during the period 1997-1999. In 1999, he earned a research position in the Depart. of Medical Physics and Biophysics at the U. of Nijmegen (The Netherlands). In 2000 he moved to the U. of Granada where he earned a research scientist position at the Depart. of Electromagnetism and Physics of the Matter and in 2001 he was awared a "Ramón y Cajal" Grant from the Spanish Ministry of Research. In 2005, he became associate professor (tenured) at the same department after receiving from the Spanish Ministry of Research the I3 certification of an outstanding research career. Since 2017 he is Professor of Condensed Matter Physics at the same department. Dr. Torres has more than 85 publications in pair-reviewed journals and books. He is coeditor of two AIP Conf. Proceedings books (Vols. 887 and 1510). Dr. Torres is Associate Editor of the Neurocomputing and Review Editor of Front. Comp. Neurosci research journals. He has supervised 12 M.S.
